How do I connect to chatrooms?
You can use a number of different pieces of software, including your web browser to connect to one of the worlds or networks.
While you grow accustomed to chatrooms you will probably want to stick with using this website and the web browser option for chatting. Over time you may find you want to use an alternative piece of software.
There are a huge number to choose from, but we think we have picked the best of the bunch:
Microsoft Chat also known as Comic Chat or MS Chat
This is a nice bit of software which instead of just offering the pure text that you are used to offers a unique comic strip interface, and there are thousands of characters you can choose from.
vIRC 1.1
Many people feel the problem with IRC is the fact you are limited to typing what you want to say, well using vIRC if you have a webcam then you can share video of yourself as well. BOTH users communicating need to use vIRC to take advantage of video capabilities.
mIRC
Probably the most robust IRC client available with lots of powerful tools. Aimed at the intermediate IRC user- but anyone can start using it without too much trouble. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
pIRCh
Another popular IRC client very similar to mIRC
Ircle
The only IRC software that we know works with Macintosh users.
We have a page of information, further advice and download links available for all these pieces of software in our Downloads Area,.
Remember IRC is fun, but it is not a game, so treat people you meet with respect, even if your using cutesy Microsoft Chat, they are real people behind those cartoon drawings, bear that in mind!
